• Lose weight. Weight gain is a risk factor for gout in men.Weight loss reduces the risk.
  • Reduce high-fructose corn syrup intake. It increases uric acid production.
  • Limit intake of purine-rich animal proteins (e.g., organ meats, beef, lamb, pork, shellfish)
  • Avoid alcohol (especially beer).
  • Drink adequates amounts of water.
