Long-term PPI use increases the risk of: 

  1. Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
  2. Other enteric infections
  3. Osteoporosis and Osteoporosis fractures.
  4. Fractures (of the Hip, wrist, and spine)
  5. Community-acquired pneumonia
  6. Hypomagnesemia
  7. Cardiac events when coadministered with clopidogrel.
  8. Vitamin B12 Deficiency.
  9. Affect absorption of other vitamins and minerals including iron and folate.
