Quality Metrics are currently being tracked nationally for all providers and it follows the provider for the rest of their lives. Tenet gets Quality Metrics from a company called Tableau for their providers.

What an actual clinic is using

At my former clinic, UCR Health in Palm Springs, they chose 10 primary care quality metrics to work on from a list of dozens. They are working on:

  1. Diabetes: Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) poor control
  2. Coronary Artery Disease (CAD): Antiplatelet therapy
  3. Diabetes: Medical Attention for nephropathy
  4. Controlling high blood pressure
  5. Breast Cancer Screening
  6. Colorectal Cancer Screening
  7. Preventive Care and Screening: Body Mass Index (BMI) S
  8. Preventive Care and Screening: Screening for clinic.
  9. Preventive Care and Screening: Tobacco Use Screening
  10. Documentation of current medications in the EHR

From e 1-4 are under the outcome section; from 5-9 are under the Preventative section; number 10 is under the Safety Section.
